In typical Couple of Roamers style, Laurie and I visited Chicago and decided the best way to get to know the Windy City was to eat and drink our way through it. Here is our mini guide of our favorite food spots and breweries we visited!
When we visited Philadelphia for Independence Day Weekend we were looking forward to trying out some new places to eat and drink, as well as visiting some of our favorite spots. What better place to celebrate the July 4th weekend than in the city where it all happened! Not only is the City of Brotherly Love great for history buffs but also for foodies! Hiking the Inca Trail in Peru was one of the best experiences of our 6 month backpacking trip last year. Actually it is one of the best experiences of my life. As I hiked the trail I would just look around and be amazed by what I saw. Beautiful snow-capped mountains, lush jungle, massive flowing rivers and waterfalls. Never in my life did I think I would ever step foot in this part of the world, yet here I was.
Before we set off on this adventure I did read about some experiences from other travelers who set off on this trek. I read about their experiences but I didn’t come across anyone who actually prepared you for this 4 day, 3 night journey. While the tour company does a decent job of informing you of the necessities, it does leave out some things that could make your hike more comfortable and enjoyable.
So hopefully while you've been reading our blog and scrolling through our Instagram Page, you've been inspired to do some traveling of your own. I remember researching what we needed to do to make our dream a reality and feeling overwhelmed at times. This is why I came up with a list for all of you who want to travel overseas of things you will want to take care of before your travel date. This list will ensure you spend less time planning and more time exploring a new city or sipping a cold drink on the beach!
We are back home with a lot less money but much richer than we left. No regrets. We'd do it all over again. We are always asked about our favorite destination but the next most popular question is: How did we afford to go away for 6 months? How did we travel the world and not resort to asking our family and friends for money or even cutting our trip short? Well here are a few tips on how we saved money and were able to make the most of our backpacking adventure.
